AI Operations Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a technical AI Operations Engineer to architect, build, and deploy sophisticated AI-powered solutions across Spendesk's internal operations. This hands-on role focuses on designing complex automation workflows, developing custom AI agents, and integrating AI capabilities into our operational stack. You'll identify high-impact use cases and translate them into robust technical solutions using AI platforms, APIs, and automation tools like n8n.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build end-to-end AI solutions and intelligent automation workflows using AI/no-code solutions (e.g., Dust, Cargo, n8n, cloud-based AI platformscustom) and custom API integrations
- Develop and deploy custom AI agents that integrate with internal systems and external APIs
- Write scripts and code to extend platform capabilities and create custom automation logic
- Build data pipelines and API connections between disparate systems to enable seamless data flow
- Conduct technical assessments to identify automation opportunities and evaluate emerging AI technologies
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure solutions meet compliance and data privacy standards
- Document technical architectures, integration patterns, and deployment procedures
Areas of expertise
Technical Foundation
- Expert-level API skills: RESTful APIs, webhooks, authentication methods (OAuth, API keys), request/response handling
- Deep experience building integrations and automation workflows using platforms like n8n, Zapier, Make, or similar
- Proficiency with AI platforms (DUST, cloud-based AI services) and their APIs
- Experience with data formats (JSON, XML), databases, and data transformation
AI & Automation Expertise
- Solid understanding of generative AI technologies, LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI agent architectures
- Proven track record of building and deploying AI-powered automation solutions in production environments
- Experience designing complex multi-agent systems and workflow orchestrations
Engineering Mindset
- Strong problem-solving abilities with focus on scalable, maintainable solutions
- Ability to debug complex technical issues across multiple integrated systems
- Comfortable working independently in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements
Operations & Process Enhancement
- Proven ability to spot inefficiencies and redesign processes with cross-functional teams
- Experience with project management and change implementation
Strategic & Analytical Capabilities
- Skills in defining goals, establishing metrics, and converting complex challenges into practical solutions
- Excellent communicator capable of simplifying technical topics, providing effective training, and establishing credibility with varied stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- 2 to 5 years in technical roles such as Solutions Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar technical role
- Strong automation appetite - Passionate about building tools that eliminate manual work (n8n, Make, Zapier..)
- Self-starter who can identify opportunities, design solutions, and drive implementation from concept to deployment
- Experience working with non-technical stakeholders to understand and translate requirements
- Proficient in English, French is a plus
Nice to Have
- Hands-on development background (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar)
- Background in Revenue Operations or Go-to-Market technology stacks
- Knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector databases, SQL, or data analysis tools
