KYC Operations Team Lead
Job Description
As our KYC Team Lead in Barcelona, you will play a pivotal role in building and scaling our compliance operations. You'll lead a team of 4 internal specialists (currently 2 internal and 3 temporary external employees) ensuring seamless KYC onboarding and support while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to shape processes, develop talent, and contribute to the growth of a fast-scaling fintech.

Key Responsibilities
- Team Management: Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4 KYC specialists, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Operational Excellence: Ensure all KYC onboarding and support requests are processed efficiently and in accordance with established SLAs
- Reporting & Analytics: Monitor team performance metrics and provide regular activity reports to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities
- Escalation Management: Handle complex cases and escalations, making sound judgments on risk assessment and compliance matters
- Process Optimization: Continuously review, update, and improve KYC processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Compliance, Revenue, and Product teams to ensure alignment and exceptional customer experience
- Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous quality standards across all KYC operations and ensure team adherence to regulatory requirements
- Resource Planning: Manage team capacity and workload distribution to meet business demands
What will help you succeed
Essential experience
- Master's degree in Law, Business, or Engineering
- 5-8 years of experience in KYC/AML analysis within financial services or fintech
- Fluent in written and spoken English - it is our business language
- Native level or fluent French is preferred to operate with French laws
- Previous people management or team leadership experience
- Deep understanding of KYC/AML regulations and compliance frameworks
Interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Customer-centric mindset with strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Experience with process improvement and change management
- Proactive, autonomous, and results-oriented approach
