Financial Crime Analyst
Location: Paris
Job Type: Permanent
Reports to: Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and analytical Financial Crime Analyst to join our team on a permanent basis in Paris. In this role, you will work closely with the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), providing vital support across their day-to-day requirements.
This role offers a unique opportunity encompassing a wide-ranging and broad scope of work. Responsibilities span high-level investigations, data analysis, policy creation, and operational support — meaning we are looking for someone who is highly flexible, open to new challenges, and adaptable to shifting priorities.
Key Responsibilities
MLRO Support: Assist the MLRO with day-to-day requirements and long-term strategic projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
High-Risk Customer Reviews: Handle daily escalations regarding customer onboarding by applying strong KYC knowledge and sound decision-making skills to ensure we are working within the company's risk appetite.
Investigations: Conduct AML investigations using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and internal data, preparing case packs and draft recommendations for the MLRO — including the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) where required. Prior experience as a TRACFIN correspondent/declarant is highly desirable.
Thematic Reviews: Plan and conduct targeted thematic reviews across different business areas to assess the effectiveness of compliance controls.
MI & Data Analysis: Gather Management Information (MI), and conduct comprehensive analysis to identify trends, patterns, and potential risks.
Policies & Procedures: Lead the creation, review, and continuous updating of Financial Crime and AML Policies, Procedures, and operational guidance.
Tool & Systems Testing: Regularly test and evaluate transaction monitoring, customer screening, and ongoing monitoring tools to ensure they operate effectively.
Training & Awareness: Assist the MLRO in developing, delivering, and tracking financial crime training across the organisation — promoting a strong culture of financial crime awareness.
What We're Looking For
Experience & Qualifications
Experience: 3–5 years of proven experience, ideally in AML and Financial Crime, though KYC or Compliance related backgrounds will also be considered
Knowledge: Strong understanding of the French AML/CFT regulatory framework and applicable EU directives.
AI Literacy: You do not need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable using and improving AI tools to streamline workflows.
Data Handling: Comfortable gathering and analysing data/MI to draw actionable insights. Advanced technical skills are not required but are a nice-to-have.
Language Skills: Full professional fluency in both French and English is essential.
Certifications: Industry certifications such as ACAMS or ICA are considered a strong advantage.
Behavioural Traits & Skills
Highly Flexible & Broad-Minded: Thrives across a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities. You are comfortable pivoting between strategic projects and operational demands without losing focus or quality.
Proactive, Self-Motivated & Solutions-Oriented: A self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude. You anticipate potential issues, take initiative, and drive results with minimal supervision.
Analytical Thinking & Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with an ability to assess risk and identify patterns with meticulous attention to detail.
Effective Time Management & Prioritisation: Able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, balancing urgent operational matters with long-term strategic objectives while meeting deadlines.
Clear and Effective Communicator: Able to explain complex regulatory topics clearly to diverse stakeholders, ensuring alignment with company policies and procedures.
Commitment to Continuous Learning & Knowledge Sharing: A genuine willingness to stay current with the latest AML and financial crime trends, regulations, and best practices — and to actively share that knowledge to help upskill those around you.
Commercial Mindset & Balanced Risk Approach: Able to put the customer first and understand business objectives while maintaining an appropriate risk-based approach. You have the confidence and resilience to push back when facing pressure from the commercial side of the business.
